what's shaking?

So today there was an earthquake in Chino Hills, it is about 30 miles from LA and a little less to Orange County. So this morning things got shaking, I happened to be up on floor 4 of 4 at DHQ so really felt things. It was a rolling earthquake that seemed to last for awhile, not as much scary as just a weird feeling. This was actually the first real earthquake I have felt since moving to SoCal in 1994.

Edith was at work in the basement of the hospital, they felt it shaking as well. They made there way out of the building for a little bit just as a precaution.

Jonathan was sleeping, but no he did not sleep through it. Abuelita Ortiz was right outside the room window in the backyard feeding Bella, David and Elizabeth were both home as well. As soon as the shaking started they all made a path for Jonathan. He was crying, a little scared and confused about what was going on. He seems fine now, he is in his little jumper playing a baby guitar, more like teething on the guitar as it makes noises but still.

Look at all those teeth

Jonathan has lots of teeth now, 3 or 4 on top and 3 on the bottom. He can really bite into you if he wants to.

Happy Birthday Edith

We had a nice day today, didn't do any big parties but had some fun. We went out to breakfast with Edith's mom and sister, then in the afternoon we were off to Disneyland.

We waited at City Hall, 15 minutes or so, so Edith could get a Happy Birthday button and we get up there and the lady gives us a stinkin' sticker! Well when walking in one of the stores a lady asked Edith if she would like a button instead, so we were happy about that.

We had dinner at the Blue Bayou, it was really good, although Jonathan didn't want to enjoy the atmospher. He was fussy and needed to nap, I got him to sleep before the food arrived but every time I tried putting him down in his stroller he woke back up crying so I ended up holding him for most of the dinner. Wasn't too big of a deal, turns out I am pretty good eating with one hand, made me slow down and enjoy the meal, that is for sure.

We finished off the eveing back at the house with Edith's family. Had a custom cake from Coldstone Creamery, Edith's favorite, a mix of bannana ice cream with brownies, chocolate, good stuff if you like chocolate...I ate the icecream part! :)

I haven't posted much lately, sorry about that. Jonathan continues to grow and explore. Yes I did finally lower the bed, but Jonathan still likes to climb, he can't pull himself up and get out as easily as he would of been able to do before obviously......but he is our little monkey and nothing will stop him from trying!

glow in the dark

This is Jonathan in his new PJ's. It is actually very dark in the room but I set the camera with no flash and a really long exposure so you could see his cool pajamas.

jonathan and daddy

Go Broncos!

All is good here, Jonathan is a wild man when he sleeps, he just doesn't seem to want to lay still, he sleeps through the night for the most part but he rolls and turns, often till he is all the way to the corner of the crib.

He is getting better at crawling and loves to pull himself up and climb on anything he can...including his daddy.

How do you spell Horsey, Horsy, or Horsey, please post a comment and let me know!

We had a crazy day today, we went to see the doctor because Jonathan had to have his TB test read, negative of course.

Then we went and took some 9 month photos, I will scan and post a couple in the next few days.

Then we went to Disneyland for awhile, actually a few hours, still never made it on a ride though! :) But we found a great onesie that Edith was looking for, we saw it in pink when we went with Mom and Dad but they were sold out of the black, and Jonathan just isn't a pink onesie kind of guy, so we waited and were happy to find it today. You can see some other pictures at the flickr site, including Jonathan with Buzz Lightyear. He was sorta in awe of him, he wouldn't look at the camera, a first I think!

We ended up eating dinner at the Carnation Cafe on Main Street, if you ever go to Disneyland and don't know what to do for a cheap dinner this is the place to go, good food that isn't too expensive, and a big difference between eating burgers and corndogs all day...although those corndogs are really good if you ask me. Anyways, try the Chicken Crossaint Sandwich...we give it two thumbs up.

Fourth of July Family Photo

We decided to celebrate the day by doing a self-family portrait!

I forgot to mention that I was very proud of Chiquita, this was her first 4th of July and I was worried she was going to get freaked out or at the very least bark like crazy. Well she was barking early on at the little bottle rocket explosions, but she got used to it and when the main show started didn't seem to really care anymore, just wasn't worth here barks I suppose.

Overall it was a very nice day, we did IHOP to go for the first time, it was tasty ABC Omelette, Avocado, Bacon, and Cheese, yummmmy. Went out to a couple stores, made some of my special burgers on the grill and enjoyed some time shooting off fireworks. I hope that everyone else had such a good day.

Happy 5th of July from,

Enjoying the show

Tonight we set off some fireworks. The neighbors, and the neighborhoods surrounding us really put on a show, but we were happy with our little show. It was a fun time, Jonathan did great. He really didn't care about the loud noises or the bright flashes, he just didn't like the smoke. There are lots of photos up at the flickr site.

Hope you all had a great 4th of July. Next year we are getting sparklers for Jonathan! :)

Happy 4th of July

Just a a quick post to say Happy 4th of July. We hope to take much more photos as the day goes on and as Jonathan experiences fireworks for the first time.

Jonathan is so good when it comes to taking a bath. He has some toys and splashes around a bit, he finds it much more refreshing than an annoyance. Which of course makes us all very happy, he gets upset when it is time to get out and get dressed.

He is just about too big for this little basin, suppose to be good for babies to toddlers, well not for this baby. Of course Jonathan is outgrowing just about everything so why should bath time be any different!
