I uploaded a dozen pictures so make sure to check them out on the flickr site. Jonathan was weighed yesterday, he is now 22 lbs! Why wonder our backs have be hurting. This here are going well, I am not looking forward to next week, with big events on both Saturday and Sunday it is going to be a long week and weekend, and I won't get a lot of time with Jonathan. Plus that means Edith gets lots of time with Jonathan, and he knows how to tire us out.

These aren't onion rings!
We went to a baby shower on Saturday and held a one year old that was a healthy weight for his age.....it was like holding Jonathan when he was 3 months. I think hea actually weighed about what Jonathan weighs now but was longer and just seemed a lot lighter.
Today we had a bbq at the house, had a bunch of people from the church over, it all went well. I did what I could by making hamburgers and chicken kabobs, and everybody seemd to enjoy playing RockBand, or laughing at those who tried.

Field trip
Field trip
Originally uploaded by dougjsimpson79@yahoo.com We went on a field trip on Friday, visiting the Science Center to see Body Worlds. It is really crazy, all these bodies split open and posed, showing each muscle, veins, organs, weird but cool. Jonathan did great the whole time, he is so good about not crying or getting to fussy. That excludes church for some reason though, if he ever acts up it seems like that is when he does it. Maybe its just because we are sitting in one place, everything is too quite, but he does like to play when we are at church.

Each morning when I leave to work I wave goodbye to Jonathan. I open and close my hand as if I am grasping at the air. Well he has now caught on, and if you saye "bye" and wave goodbye, he waves back. :) This is him, doing it, although you wouldn't know unless I told you...hence why I am telling you

ballons
Edith's sister turned 18 on Sunday, hard to believe. Jonathan has never really seen ballons before so he was very entertained by how they moved and floated about. Hiding behind the ballons Edith's aunt.

I got two teeth now!
Today was the SoCal Celebration, it went very well from my side of things, sound, video, etc. I totally forget about what is going on everywhere else excluding the main stage, but there was basketball, soccer, (my corps didn't get first for the first time since this event was started a few years ago) children activities, stuff like that.
Edith and Jonathan had to wake up early to go with me, but they made the sacrafice and we were out of the house at 7 and on are way to Rancho Palos Verdes.
Jonathan got to meetg all kinds of people from work, other corps', friends of family, all were blown away by his cuteness and his chubby cheeks. They look at Edith and go, wow, or ouch!
In the picture, taken today, you see Jonathan hanging out in the shade with mommy, showing off his two front teeth.

Look Mom, no hands
Edith has been working with Jonathan on sitting up by himself and pushing up on his arms, in both he is doing great. He can now sit up by himself for more than 10 seconds no problem, then he usually get distracted and turns his body, shifting his weight, and TIMBER!

I'm in the band
You have seen him play the keyboard, and the baby guitar, now he is taking over the band by laying down those funky beats. Grandpa Ortiz was playing with Jonathan over in front of the drums for our game called Rock Band, and Jonathan had no problem banging out a tune. :) Chiquita can be seen in the background if you look carefully.
Nothing to exciting going on, I have a big event this weekend that I am getting ready for, hence the lack of updates.

New Video

hbk
For those who don't know, HBK is a popular wrestler, he is also one of the few that has come out as a Christian, born again, and does a pretty good job keeping true to that, even in the soap opera that is the WWE. Since he is one of the favorites of Edith's sister he got this as a present for Christmas. Well it is a little baggy but it fits, 12 month clothes fit, this one is actually 18 and still....not bad!

I still remember going to see what was then the WWF with my dad when I was a little kid, guys like Hulk Hogan and Rick Flair were the big draw, now the Hulk hosts the new American Gladiators, and Rick Flair just retired a couple weeks ago, the good old days of wrestling for me have faded but who knows what the future holds for Jonathan.

a grouch and a 1/2
Jonathan got his newest set of shots yesterday, he handled it very well, only cried for a few minutes. But he has been a bit cranky ever since. Last night he got a high temperature a woke up a few times. He seems to be doing better now, hard to tell if he is grouchy because of the shots or just because of his long night.
So the stats on Jonathan, 20 lbs, 27 1/2 inches. That is a great size for a 15 month old, of course Jonathan is only six months! :)

here comes the tooth fairy
Now that Jonathan is six months we thought we would show off this little white nub coming in. Mommy has felt it a couple times, today Grandpa Ortiz was playing with him and called out...."he bit me!" :) That little tooth is sure to be followed by more, his cute little toothless smile is gone. :'( But just think of all the new tooth smile photos I get to take!!! :)

Six months of slides
Today Jonathan is six months old. It is hard to believe for may reasons I suppose, it is all so surreal. I thank God for not only these past six months but all he did watching over Edith and Jonathan while he was renting his one "womb" apartment.
It has really been a blessing to have a son that is so wonderful. Not only because he sleeps through the night and doesn't cry every minute of the day, but for who is he. I know so many check out this blog, family, close friends, co-workers, etc, and I really think it is more than just curiosity. A light and joy shines out of Jonathan making everyone around him smile. That sounded corny, very American Idol, Paula Abdul like, but it is true.
